Day-by-Day Pilgrimage Plan
Itinerary & Trip Details
India speaks History. India is a place where every other thing is referred to Gods and Goddesses. A visit to India is never over until one visits its ancient pilgrim cities. This tour takes to you some of most holy cities in India for Hinduism and Buddhism and also to one of the grandest universities of all time. Visit India as a pilgrim and feel its divinity.
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
Arrive in New Delhi – the capital of India. Check into the hotel and relax for the day, Overnight at Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi – Mathura
Today morning, proceed to Mathura(180 kms/3 Hours) – the birthplace of Hindu God Krishna who is believed to be the 8th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Visit the Krishna Janmabhoomi Complex – where Lord Krishna is said to have been born in a jail about 5000 years back. Visit Vrindavan where Lord Krishna is said to have spent his childhood and visit Banke Bihari Temple and Govardhan Parvat which Krishna had lifted with his small finger and saved many from unrelenting rains. Overnight at Mathura.
Day 3: Mathura – Orchha
Today morning, proceed to Orchha(250 kms/5 Hours) – a historic city in Bundelkhand. Visit the Ram Raja Temple – the only place in India where Lord Ram worshiped as the King. Visit other notable monuments in Orchha like the Chaturbhuj Temple, Jahangir Mahal, the Royal Chhatris of Bundela Kings on the banks of River Betwa. Overnight at Orchha.
Day 4: Orchha – Chitrakoot
Today morning, proceed to Chitrakoot(300 kms/5 Hours) – the place where Lord Ram spent some days during his exile and performed the last rites of his father Dashrath. Visit the Gupt Godavari Caves, Kamtaji temples and the Ram Ghat on the banks of river Mandakini and enjoy the Evening Aarti. Overnight at Chitrakoot.
Day 5: Chitrakoot – Prayagraj
The day starts with a 3 hour drive to Prayagraj – named after the confluence(prayag) of three holy rivers – Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Visit the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj where the Maha Kumbh Mela is organized every 12 years and the Bade Hanumanji Temple. Relax on the banks of Ganga and Overnight at Prayagraj.
Day 6: Prayagraj – Ayodhya
Today morning, drive to Ayodhya(160 kms/3 Hours) – the birthplace of Hindu God Bhagwan Ram and one of the most holy cities as per the Hindu Religion. Situated on the banks of river Saryu, it has been a witness of the Ram Rajya centuries back followed by various Communal clashes in the medieval period. Visit the newly constructed the Ramjanmabhumi Temple, have darshan of Lord Ram and witness the Saryu Aarti in the evening. Overnight at Ayodhya.
Day 7: Ayodhya – Varanasi
This morning, drive to Varanasi – a city older than history itself. A 4 hour drive to Varanasi where thousands of by-lanes await at the banks of River Ganga. Visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple – one of the 12 Jyotirlingas as per Hinduism. Enjoy boating in the river Ganga witnessing various Ghats of Varanasi and the electrifying Ganga Aarti in the evening. Overnight at Varanasi.
Day 8: Varanasi – Sarnath – Varanasi
This morning, visit the neighboring Sarnath – where Gautam Buddha gave the First Sermon. The archaeological site of Sarnath was the places where the national emblem of India – the Ashok Stambh was found and it still is preserved at the Sarnath museum. Endure a guided tour of the Site and the museum with the Buddhist temple followed by exploring the ghats of Varanasi. Overnight at Varanasi.
Day 9: Varanasi – Bodhgaya
The ninth day starts with a 6 hour long drive to Bodhgaya – the place where Gautam Buddha received his enlightenment. Visit the sprawling Mahabodhi Temple where under the Peepal Tree, Gautam Buddha got enlightenment. The temple campus is synonym to peace and also architectural beauty. Overnight at Bodhgaya.
Day 10: Bodhgaya – Nalanda – Patna
On the penultimate day of the tour, first visit the Vishnupad Temple of Gaya on the banks of river Falgu where thousands of Hindus come for Pind Daan – after death rituals every year. Post that, Drive to Nalanda, the place of the famous ancient University which was destroyed by Bakhtiyar Khilji in the 12th Century. A prominent place of learning is a UNESCO World Heritage Site now and still speaks its glory days through its Archaeological remains. Drive to Patna and Overnight at Patna.
Day 11: Drop
Today the tour ends and drops as per schedule.
